At whatimpact, we are proud to highlight our partnership with Blackbaud, a global leader in software for social good. This collaboration brings together two platforms with a shared mission: enabling organisations to deliver meaningful, measurable impact in the communities they serve.
As the UK’s leading platform for CSR and social value management, whatimpact – National Social Value Marketplace® for the UK provides unparalleled access to hyper-local charity data to provide extensive matchmaking capabilities in addition to detailed impact reporting. When combined with Blackbaud’s global reach, CSR, and charity tools, this partnership creates a powerful opportunity for organizations to deliver meaningful change.
Understanding Blackbaud’s Collaboration with whatimpact
whatimpact has a comprehensive coverage of the UK’s charity sector, enabling private sector organisations to connect with thousands of vetted VCSEs across England, Scotland, and Wales. In addition to offering grants and other monetary donations, companies can offer skilled and non-skilled based volunteers to be matched with VCSEs who need their services. whatimpact also offers robust qualitative impact reporting, providing organisations with the ability to track and report their activities.
In collaboration with whatimpact’s unique, outcome-based impact reporting, Blackbaud’s AI-enhanced solution, Impact Edge®, enables organisations to aggregate, analyse, and report on impact data like never before. As a result of the partnership, Blackbaud has now access to extensive sums of charity project data, case studies, testimonials, evidence based outcomes and indirect outcomes that follow the Global 8 principles of social impact measurement and reporting. This enables Blackbaud’s clients to aggregate more data and build a complete picture of their social impact.
What is social value?
Social value is a widely used concept in the UK, particularly within public sector procurement. It refers to the additional social, environmental, and economic benefits that organisations are expected to deliver alongside their core contractual obligations. Procurement regulations have made this mandatory, and usually public sector contracts give 10% (in some cases up to 30%) of the tender scoring for a social value plan. This has made social value a winning factor.
In practice, this means that companies are mandated to deliver specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in the geographical areas where contract work takes place. These KPIs are monitored in a robust manner and evidence of each activity must be provided. whatimpact’s platform helps companies to win these government contracts by connecting the private sector with thousands of VCSEs and schools to deliver local, relevant impact that is measured in a tangible manner.
Delivering social value is becoming increasingly complex, with organisations required to navigate contract-specific obligations, detailed reporting standards, and rising expectations around measurable outcomes. At the same time, similar procurement frameworks are emerging globally, including across the European Union, Australia, and other international markets.
Looking Ahead
This evolving landscape highlights the need for scalable, data-driven solutions. Blackbaud and whatimpact’s collaboration is designed to meet this challenge by enabling organisations seeking to deepen their engagement within the UK charity landscape to identify the right partners, deliver social value, and capture impact in a meaningful way.
We are incredibly proud to be working with Blackbaud to shape the future of social value and CSR. Together, we are enabling organisations not only to meet expectations but to exceed them, delivering impact that is tangible, measurable, and deeply rooted in community need.
