FAQ
Why is your VCSE data the best in the market?
whatimpact is the only platform in the UK market that publishes over 250,000 registered charities from England, Scotland and Wales with aggregated data from The Charity Commission.
These charities, as well as social enterprises with their Companies House data, can activate their own comprehensive profile providing detailed information about their organisation, work, resource needs, beneficiaries, outcomes, impact and geographical reach. We also encourage unregistered community groups to list with profiles suitable for the due diligence processes.
In addition, we offer a direct in-platform communication channel to the right people in every organisation. VCSEs use our impact reporting to report back to their supporters by providing detailed data on the outputs, outcomes, impact and beneficiary testimonials.
What makes the whatimpact impact reporting unique?
whatimpact Social Impact Report (SIR) is a semi-automated qualitative/quantitative impact reporting system that captures all data about the partnership agreed on the platform, to verify each match.
The VCSE is reports on their project/activity outputs, outcomes, impact and evidence with a reporting model that aligns with The 8 Principles of Social Value by Social Value International https://www.socialvalueint.org/principles
The impact reporting outcomes are aligned with The UK GOV Social Value Model and TOMs. The report is sharable and validates any social value proxies or calculations as evidence.
Why do I have to set up a company/organisation profile to browse the marketplace?
whatimpact is a B2B matchmaking platform, where both matching parties approach each other by representing their organisation. As a two-sided marketplace, both parties need to have information on the potential partner from the outset. It is important to be transparent regarding what kind of partnership you are looking for, especially when placing partnership ‘offers’ (free feature).
How can my colleagues join our company profile?
As a company profile creator, you will be automatically nominated as an Administrator of your company profile. You can invite your colleagues to join your profile as Users in ‘settings’. You can also grant them administration permissions, which consist of the rights to manage the subscription, payment methods and other Users.
If your colleagues register to our platform to set up a company profile already activated (by Company Number), the system automatically sends the details of the new sign up to the admin for the profile to review whether they grant permission to the person in question to be added as a user or admin to the profile.
How do you vet the VCSEs on the platform?
Firstly, each charity registered in England, Scotland and Wales is already in our database with their Charity Commission organisation information and data. Social Enterprises create a profile by using their Companies House profile. Unregistered Groups present their Community Group Declaration.
Our Customer Service team monitors each registration on the profile, and we make sure all required details are in place and match with organisation’s domain and registration address. We usually provide guidance and support to complete the profiles too.
Otherwise, whatimpact does not evaluate or do other due diligence for the organisations as we grant equal opportunity for all organisations allowed to be registered in Companies House and Charities Commission to join, and who have updated records in these governing body systems.
If I am creating a partnership offer on the platform, am I obligated to partner with a VCSE applicant?
No. Our platform has been built to encourage you to create as many partnership offers as you wish to discover the right VCSE partners. This is very helpful in the social value planning and bidding stages when you are not yet sure whether the partnership is likely to take place.
VCSEs apply to your offers with their profiles and projects they have published, which means they can use the same data to apply for various offers – this is all planned so that our system does not overburden VCSEs with application administration.
You can review, reject or move applications to a shortlist with our MATCH Free subscription.
When you wish to act upon the partnership, verify your collaboration and request impact reporting, you as a company member need to have either a monthly (MATCH Premium) or annual (MATCH Enterprise) subscription.
When should I verify my ‘match’ and what liabilities there are?
When you find the right partner and you are committed to supporting them with a money donation, in-kind or volunteering donations, you can send the VCSE an ‘award’ message.
The VCSE receiving this message must accept it on their behalf. Afterwards, you can monitor all of your partnership commitments on your company dashboard.
By ‘awarding’ the match you are obligated to give the resources to the project you matched with. The VCSE is obligated to deliver their project and also complete an impact reporting (SIR) for you if you choose to request one (option available with MATCH Premium and MATCH ENTERPRISE subscriptions only). Each impact report generates a £50 grant for the VCSE, which is paid by whatimpact as a commission.
Can I trust that the VCSEs matching with my organisation will report on the impact when I need an impact report?
Yes, VCSEs are bound to our T&Cs and will be compensated for each report with £50 for their efforts. If you support a project for a longer term, you can request more than one report.
Can I request multiple reports on the same project? Do I have to pay the same price for each report?
Yes. The reporting system is semi-automated and new reports can be easily delivered based on previous report data and updates. The price for each report and the compensation for the VCSE are the same.
If you are a MATCH Enterprise subscriber, 10 impact reports are included as part of your annual report allocation. If you exceed the allocation or are a monthly subscriber you can request and pay for each report as required.
If my organisation subscribes monthly, can we cancel anytime?
Yes, you can. Each month will last 31 days from the subscription start date.
Can we have an online demonstration on the platform?
We host demonstration sessions for organisations opting for a MATCH Enterprise subscription, which contains onboarding and training services. If you wish to begin with a MATCH FREE or MATCH Premium subscription, we recommend you review the online video tutorials.
Can you advise us on social value strategy?
Yes. We include an annual strategy session for each MATCH Enterprise and can offer additional social value advice charged at our consultancy rates.
