Social Value Statement

We’re committed to a performance and evidence-based approach to Social Value. Based on the National TOMs, bidders must propose credible targets against which performance (for the successful bidder) will be monitored. TOMs are based on Office of National Statistics data on trends up and down the country and give proxy values for things such as employment in terms of what it means in a quantitative sense to the community.

Why Central Bedfordshire partnered with whatimpact to deliver Social Value

Central Bedfordshire Council enjoys an excellent relationship with its voluntary and community sector organisations through collaboration and partnerships to enable expertise to be shared and initiatives to be funded and coordinated benefiting the wider community. By being embedded within communities, VCS organisations can identify emerging issues quickly and adapt their services, accordingly, ensuring they meet needs and local challenges.

By partnering with whatimpact, we can ensure our suppliers create targeted bid response to our tenders that will have a positive impact, by partnering with our wide VCSE network, on whatimpact, our suppliers will be able to offer a clearly defined systematic approach to creating tangible social impact in Central Bedfordshire.

Central Bedfordshire is engaging our suppliers to enhance drive meaningful Social Value

We are taking steps to improve the accessibility of the procurement process itself, to encourage a diverse range of bidders to participate in tenders relevant to them. It is important that e.g. sole traders, SMEs, start-ups and companies with minority ownership or management are well-supported and feel included as they build their experience, as this will increase the likelihood of their participation in future. We also ensure that such businesses have fair access to participate in relevant tenders alongside their national and global counterparts, and our established supplier base.
